A Wrinkle In Time

Meagan S.

In the last few chapters, they come across a lot more troubles. We find out that all the women, (Mrs. Who, Mrs. Whatsit and Mrs. Which) were all stars and lost their star lives to the black thing. Meg finally finds her father and realizes that he was held prisoner the whole time he was missing. Which was kind of obvious because he would have came back to his family if he wasn't. They come to find out that there is this giant brain controlling everything. It makes people act the same, think the same and even make their heartbeats the same. Her little brother turns into a boy named Chucky and he turned into a mean person. Meg goes to him and realized that this brain couldn't love and will never be the same as anyone else. Chucky finally turns back to Charles Wallace. The twist in the story was pretty cool because in the beginning you weren't expecting the father to be working with a giant brain that controls everything. It's a huge twist and something that you don't hear about in books. This science fiction book isn't like other ones but still is as interesting as them. It's something you don't hear about everyday.

A Wrinkle In Time Part 4

Meagan S

In chapter 4, Meg feels like the world around her is turned to black like a tv being turned off and she feels alone and there's nothing there anymore. When this is all happening, she is unable to speak or move. After awhile, it all comes back to her and she can hear voices talking, like her brother and friend, but she can't see them. Finally Calvin, her friend shoves her and she comes into this new place, a new reality. She looks around to see a beautiful field during spring, but even though it was fall back home. She finally sees her friend Calvin and her brother Charles Wallace and then Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which join them. After awhile, Mrs.Whatsit finally tells them they're on a different planet and got there by tessering. (What exactly is that? Is it linked to the mission their dad is on?) Suddenly, which i found very strange is that Mrs.Whatsit turns into a centaur and tells everyone to get on her back and they fly around the planet. One thing that was pretty cool, is that when they were flying higher up, it was becoming harder to breathe so they swooped down, grabbed some flowers. Why? Because of the oxygen they give off. The sun and the moon began to set and the darkness begins to take over and this black thing that is going on, makes them all uncomfortable. I wonder the same thing that Meg said at the end of the chapter, if the black thing is what her father is trying to fight. This book started out boring, but after this chapter i found it really interesting and wondering the same thing. Is the father on this planet somewhere trying to control this thing?

A Wrinkle In Time Part 2 & 3

Meagan S

Chapter two wasn't all too exciting. Meg believes that the night before was just a dream but her mother tells her that it wasn't. Mrs.Whatsit invites them to come over so the kids head over to their house with the kids dog also coming along. Mrs. Who, another woman who lives in the house, doesn't seem like the best person. She tells Mrs. Whatsit that their father is in need of their help. The kids can tell that their dog isn't fond of the woman and the kids decide to listen to the dogs judgement and end up leaving. I wonder why the dog doesn't like her. What kind of vibe does she give off in order for that to happen? In chapter 3, the kids and a new friend head back to their house for dinner. Their new friend Calvin keeps asking about Meg's father and what happened to him and why he went missing. In this chapter we find out that their father is a physicist doing Top Secret government work, and that all the government will tell them is that he's on "a secret and dangerous mission". They haven't heard or seen their father in a long time. Meg is scared that the government doesn't even know where he is and she ends up crying tome Calvin, her friend. One thing I am really anxious to find out about is why the father went missing in the first place and why the government won't give more answers on it. If he is doing and mission for them, wouldn't the know? Obviously it's going to be a time machine, given that Meg thinks they don't know where he is and along with the title of the book.

A Wrinkle In Time Part 1

Meagan S

The book, A Wrinkle In Time, is about a young girl, Meg, who's father is a scientist who has gone missing after working on a project. So far, the first chapter is about a girl named Meg who sleeps in an attic, but comes down stairs during a bad storm because she is afraid. She has a little brother named Charles Wallace. Meg isn't the usual girl, she fights. On the way home she beats up a boy who was making fun of her little brother. Her brother, her mother and her all come downstairs during the storm to have a midnight snack and are startled when a strange man comes in. The book isn't the best yet. So far it's rather boring, but it's just the beginning and setting up for something good. Meg seems like an interesting character who will make the book interesting also. I wonder if the rest of the book will be more detailed and into it unlike the first chapter. The book itself seemed interesting and fun to read, but of course it's boring in the first part.m

The Time Machine Chapter 7

Meagan S

Chapter 7 didn't start off too interesting. Most of the chapter had to do with the time traveler and Weena (the little gentle creature above ground) heading out to the green building. The time traveler also came to the conclusion that the Morlocks (the underground creatures) eat the Eloi (above ground creatures). He found out what the meet was in the tunnel finally. On the way to the building, Weena kept putting flowers in the time traveler's pocket, which was adorable, kind of reminds you of father and daughter. Darkness comes along and there was also a huge dark forest that comes along the path, put they choose to avoid it and the night, and sleep on a hill. The time traveler decides to stay up all night because he didn't want the Morlocks to attack them. One of the big things was when the time traveler decided to stay up, he watched the stars and noticed how the constellations changed since his time. Which I thought was pretty interesting. Anyways, one thing that I thought was interesting was how the Morlocks eat the Eloi. How did humanity turn into these creatures who eat each other. Yeah it's over thousands of years, but who did that come to be? Why are the Morlocks so evil and mean and the Eloi so nice and gentle and fragile?

The Time Machine Chapter 6

Meagan S

Honestly, if you were in a strange world that you have never been before, would you go into the ground to find out more about these dangerous creatures? I mean yeah, you're curious, but your life is in danger. In chapter 6, the Time Traveler goes down into the well and ends up finding a tunnel. In the tunnel, he hears machines throughout it and also meat on a table. I wonder what the meat actually is and how they got it.... On his way down, he feels this Morlocks (the creatures under ground) touch him, which scares him and he lights a match, only to find out they don't like the light. One thing that is stupid of the time traveler is that he only brings a small box of matches with him. Later on in the tunnel, the Morlocks start getting hostile and he used up all of the matches. Luckily, he ends up getting out of the tunnel. I don't get why he wouldn't bring more stuff with him to the future. He should know to bring stuff to protect him against what could be there or he could get killed. These Morlock creatures actually sound pretty cool, but nasty looking. I wonder if they are the ones who took the time machine?

The Time Machine Chapter 5

Meagan S.

Chapter 5 was quite... interesting. The Time Traveler happened to lose his time machine then to only find out that it was at the pedestal of the white sphinx. How did it even get there? He's the only human there and all the other little creatures are weak and lazy, how could they move it? Anyways, one of the big things in this chapter is that he saves one of the little creatures from drowning then befriends him and follows him around. Weena (the little creature he saved) told him how they are afraid of the dark.  Another thing that was kinda creepy in my opinion was the underground creatures. The Time Traveler was in one of the buildings to find the well that leads down. He went down the ladder to find these things. He came to the conclusion that there are two different kinds of "humans" in the future. The above ground, lazy and fragile creatures and the under ground, monster, horrible creatures. Why would this be added into the book? I wonder what they are going to do? Think about it, what if these monster like things come out at night and took the time machine, causing the time traveler to be stranded. Hmm...
